EMAIL SUBJECT:
An Important Change to Your Medical Service Plan (MSP) Coverage
EMAIL BODY:
I wanted to let you know that the BC provincial government will be eliminating MSP premiums as of January 1, 2020. Your employee benefit plan previously included the administration and payment of these premiums. With the elimination of the premium, our MSP Group Plan will be discontinued.
The BC government will still require residents to enrol in the MSP program. You do not need to reapply for MSP coverage. Because you were previously covered under a group plan, you will be automatically transitioned to a self-administered plan on January 1, 2020.
You will receive a letter from Health Insurance BC (HIBC) when your self-administration has begun. The letter will include current account information for you and your existing dependents.
You will be required to maintain your MSP account, including keeping your MSP account up to date with information such as current address and personal information. Read more about managing your MSP account here.
The change in MSP premium has no impact on your employee health benefit plan. You can continue to submit claims through your app or using Pay Direct Services with your health and dental providers.
