Although the Early Intervention Program (EIP) offered by DMI is optional to employees, mandating participation allows you to get the best results out of your benefits plan and helps ensure that all employees on leave receive the support they need. Doing so also streamlines your workload, as you won’t need to setup different processes for each individual employee who is excluded from the program.
To notify your employees of this program, copy and paste the email sample below.

DMI Early Intervention Program for Employees on Medical Leave
EMAIL BODY:
As part of our company benefits plan with GroupHEALTH, we have access to the Early Intervention Program (EIP) offered by DMI for all employees. This program provides support and resources to employees on medical leave to assist you with your recovery and return-to-work. Employees are referred to DMI for EIP any time they have missed 5 or more consecutive work shifts for medical reasons. You will be contacted by a DMI Early Intervention Specialist who will provide you with information about the program and the steps you will need to follow. The Early Intervention Specialist will also ask you to share some details surrounding your medical condition and absence from work so that they can identify the appropriate resources to assist you.
DMI does not provide your confidential medical information regarding your diagnosis, treatment plan, and symptoms to [YOUR COMPANY NAME], but they will share information on your limitations and restrictions, and on your prognosis for return-to-work so that we can help make your return as smooth as possible.
You will stay connected with the same Early Intervention Specialist until you return to work or apply for a [short-term/mid-term/long-term] disability claim. They will work with you, your treatment team, and us to support you in a safe and sustainable return to work program when it’s appropriate to do so.
Participation in the Early Intervention Program is mandatory for all employees.
If you have any questions about the Early Intervention Program please contact me directly.
